Chartreux
Domestic breed · No. 62 / 89
A little less often seen — a nice find. You had about a 1-in-4 chance of drawing Chartreux as The Dreamer — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You spend a lot of your day in places no one else can see. You write things in your head that don't quite make it to paper. You notice the way light hits a building, the unsaid thing in a conversation, the song playing under everything else. The people who love you have learned not to interrupt the staring-out-the-window phases. That's where your best work happens.
Why a Chartreux?
A French breed with a blue-gray coat, copper-orange eyes, and a famously quiet, observant personality. Chartreux cats rarely vocalize. They prefer to communicate through posture, gaze, and the occasional small chirp. They're sometimes called "the smiling cat" because of the upward curve at the corners of their mouths.
Did you know
According to French tradition, the Chartreux is named for the Carthusian monks, who supposedly kept them in their monasteries to control mice in the cellars where Chartreuse liqueur was distilled. Modern scholarship suggests the connection may be coincidence, but the name has stuck.
