A little less often seen — a nice find. You had about a 1-in-4 chance of drawing Japanese Bobtail as The Free Spirit — one of 5 cats you could have become.

You travel light. Not just literally. Your needs are simple, and your contentment doesn't depend on much. You don't have to be in a relationship, you don't have to live in the right city, you don't have to be doing the impressive thing. The freedom you have is the freedom you built by wanting less than other people want. It looks like luck. It isn't.

Why a Japanese Bobtail?

An ancient Japanese breed with a short, rabbit-like tail and a friendly, independent temperament. Japanese Bobtails are intelligent, vocal in a melodic way, and famously social. They're depicted in centuries of Japanese art as good-luck companions and are often associated with the maneki-neko (beckoning cat) figurine seen in shops and restaurants.

Did you know

The Japanese Bobtail's distinctive short tail is the result of a genetic mutation, but unlike the Manx, the gene is recessive and doesn't cause spinal problems. The breed has been documented in Japan for over a thousand years.
