Why a Colocolo?
A small wild cat native to the highlands and forests of Chile, Argentina, and parts of Bolivia. Colocolos are nocturnal, solitary, and rarely studied. Their coats vary widely by region, from spotted to almost striped, and their behavior in the wild remains one of the least understood of any cat species in the Americas.
Did you know
The Colocolo gets its name from a Mapuche word meaning "the strange one" or "the unusual one." In Mapuche mythology, the Colocolo is sometimes described as a small forest spirit that hides in plain sight.
