Margay
Wild species · No. 75 / 89
The rarest pull in the album. Most people never draw one. You had about a 1-in-15 chance of drawing Margay as The Joyful Optimist — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You're not naive. You decided a while back that you'd rather find the bright thread in a thing than the dark one. People are surprised by how much of life genuinely makes you happy. Small dogs, weird clouds, songs that hit right, friends who answer the phone. Your good mood is the kind that catches, and it doesn't take a lot to maintain.
Why a Margay?
A small wild cat native to Central and South American rainforests. Margays are one of only two cat species that can climb headfirst down trees. They have flexible ankles that rotate 180 degrees, like squirrels. They spend almost their entire lives in the canopy and are rarely seen on the ground.
Did you know
Margays have been observed mimicking the calls of baby monkeys to lure adult monkeys closer in attempts to ambush them. It's one of the few documented examples of vocal mimicry being used by a wild cat to hunt.
