Munchkin
Domestic breed · No. 73 / 89
A little less often seen — a nice find. You had about a 1-in-5 chance of drawing Munchkin as The Joyful Optimist — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You're not naive. You decided a while back that you'd rather find the bright thread in a thing than the dark one. People are surprised by how much of life genuinely makes you happy. Small dogs, weird clouds, songs that hit right, friends who answer the phone. Your good mood is the kind that catches, and it doesn't take a lot to maintain.
Why a Munchkin?
A breed with short legs caused by a genetic mutation that affects bone development, similar to the dachshund in dogs. Munchkins are still fully functional cats. They run, jump, and play normally, just lower to the ground. They're famously curious, playful, and undeterred by their small stature.
Did you know
The Munchkin breed traces back to a single pregnant cat named Blackberry, found under a truck in Louisiana in 1983. Her short legs were passed to her kittens, and the breed was developed from her line. The breed remains controversial in some cat registries due to the genetic nature of its short legs.
