Turkish Angora
Domestic breed · No. 56 / 89
A familiar favorite — the cat you're most likely to find. You had about a 1-in-3 chance of drawing Turkish Angora as The Loyal Guardian — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You will go to war for the people you love and you do not need them to ask. You watch carefully, you judge intent carefully, and you remember who was kind to your people and who wasn't. People sometimes mistake your reserve for coldness. It isn't. You're sizing them up, and you make up your mind once.
Why a Turkish Angora?
An ancient breed from the region around Ankara, Turkey. Turkish Angoras are graceful, intelligent, and athletic, with long silky coats that flow when they move. They bond strongly to their families and can be surprisingly protective for a small cat. Alert to strangers, attentive to their humans, and slow to trust newcomers.
Did you know
Turkish Angoras nearly went extinct in the early 20th century. They were preserved through a careful breeding program at the Ankara Zoo, which still operates today as the official guardian of the breed's genetic heritage.
