Iriomote Cat
Wild species · No. 79 / 89
The rarest pull in the album. Most people never draw one. You had about a 1-in-10 chance of drawing Iriomote Cat as The Night Owl — one of 4 cats you could have become.
The world makes more sense to you after dark. You do your best thinking past 11 p.m. Your friends know not to text you before noon unless something is on fire. You like quiet streets, lamplight, the way music sounds louder in headphones at night. Mornings happen to you. Evenings are yours.
Why a Iriomote Cat?
One of the rarest wild cats in the world, found only on the tiny Japanese island of Iriomote in Okinawa Prefecture. The entire global population is estimated at fewer than 100 individuals. They're nocturnal, secretive, and uniquely adapted to the island's subtropical climate, swimming and climbing easily in the dense mangrove forests.
Did you know
The Iriomote Cat was first documented by Western science in 1965, making it one of the most recently discovered cat species. The island it lives on is only 113 square miles in total, which makes the Iriomote Cat one of the most geographically restricted wild cats on earth.
