Burmilla
Domestic breed · No. 66 / 89
A familiar favorite — the cat you're most likely to find. You had about a 1-in-3 chance of drawing Burmilla as The Old Soul — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You've been quiet at parties since you were ten. Friends bring you their hardest questions because you don't rush to answer them and you don't pretend to know things you don't. You like long conversations, slow mornings, and the kind of books that take a year to finish. You're rarely in a hurry. People who spend time around you tend to slow down too.
Why a Burmilla?
A British breed accidentally created in 1981 when a Chinchilla Persian and a Burmese ended up in the same room. Their kittens were so striking that the breed was developed deliberately from that point. Burmillas are dignified, sweet-natured, and famously gentle. The temperament of a Burmese with the silvery elegance of a Chinchilla.
Did you know
The accidental founding pair of the Burmilla breed belonged to a British baroness, Miranda von Kirchberg, who had been keeping the cats in separate rooms but left a door open one evening. Their unexpected offspring became the basis for a recognized international breed.
