Snowshoe
Domestic breed · No. 86 / 89
A little less often seen — a nice find. You had about a 1-in-4 chance of drawing Snowshoe as The Romantic — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You love hard and you don't dilute it. The people you've loved have always known they were loved. You remember anniversaries, you write the long card, you cry at the good moments because the good moments deserve it. Some people find this overwhelming. Other people would never want to be loved any other way.
Why a Snowshoe?
A cross between a Siamese and an American Shorthair, with distinctive white "snowshoe" markings on the paws and a sweet, expressive face. Snowshoes are intelligent, vocal, and emotionally attuned, and they tend to bond intensely with one human and follow them devotedly around the home.
Did you know
The Snowshoe breed was created in the 1960s by a Philadelphia breeder named Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty, who found three Siamese kittens in her litter with unusual white feet. She crossbred them with American Shorthairs to stabilize the trait, and the breed was developed from there.
