A familiar favorite — the cat you're most likely to find. You had about a 1-in-3 chance of drawing American Bobtail as The Steady Companion — one of 3 cats you could have become.

You're who people call when they need a ride to the airport. Not flashy, not loud, not particularly mysterious. You're also not interested in being any of those things. You show up, you do what you said you'd do, and you make other people's lives easier without making a thing of it. The world runs on people like you.

Why a American Bobtail?

A medium-to-large cat with a distinctive short, expressive tail. Bobtails are friendly, adaptable, and famously good travelers. Many owners describe them as "dog-like" in their willingness to play fetch, walk on leashes, and join in whatever the household is doing.

Did you know

The American Bobtail's short tail is the result of a natural genetic mutation, not selective breeding. The breed traces back to a single bobtailed kitten found on a Native American reservation in Arizona in the late 1960s.
