Burmese
Domestic breed · No. 51 / 89
A familiar favorite — the cat you're most likely to find. You had about a 1-in-4 chance of drawing Burmese as The Sun Worshipper — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You find the warmest patch in any room within thirty seconds of arriving. Good food, good naps, sun through a window in winter, the right blanket on the right couch. These are not small things to you. People who don't slow down probably miss most of what's worth being alive for, and you decided a while ago not to be one of them.
Why a Burmese?
A sturdy, muscular cat with a famously sweet personality. Burmese cats are sometimes described as "bricks wrapped in silk" because they're heavier than they look. They love warmth, comfort, and physical closeness, and they often choose a specific human to be their main person.
Did you know
All modern Burmese cats descend from a single brown cat named Wong Mau, brought from Burma (now Myanmar) to San Francisco in 1930. The breed was developed from her descendants and was officially recognized in 1936.
