Tonkinese
Domestic breed · No. 52 / 89
A familiar favorite — the cat you're most likely to find. You had about a 1-in-4 chance of drawing Tonkinese as The Sun Worshipper — one of 5 cats you could have become.
You find the warmest patch in any room within thirty seconds of arriving. Good food, good naps, sun through a window in winter, the right blanket on the right couch. These are not small things to you. People who don't slow down probably miss most of what's worth being alive for, and you decided a while ago not to be one of them.
Why a Tonkinese?
The result of crossing a Burmese with a Siamese. Tonkinese cats have unusually aqua-colored eyes, a coat that's somewhere between solid and pointed, and a personality that splits the difference between Burmese sweetness and Siamese chattiness. They love warmth, attention, and being involved in everything.
Did you know
Tonkinese cats are one of the few breeds known to have true aqua-colored eyes, ranging from pale turquoise to deep teal. The color comes from the interaction of the Burmese gold-eye gene and the Siamese blue-eye gene.
